The first is the Original Toypedo. I have the one we purchased 8 years ago and it is a little worn from daily use, but still works great. Don't be tempted to buy the smaller Toypedo Bandits. They don't work nearly as well. You don't throw this toy above the water, you go under the water, push it from the back, and it glides amazingly far. My kids love playing catch. This toy has convinced many a child that it is fun to go under the water.
My other favorite pool toy is Melissa & Doug Sunny Patch Maritime Mates Memory Game. Kids love to dive for these, they don't have little pieces that get lost, and you can play all sorts of games with them. There are two each of 5 different characters. With a group of swimmers, I throw them all out, tell each child how many to find, then tell them, "The one who finds the ____ wins." Kids can do this for hours. While teaching kids to swim, I use them as a reward: "After you float on your back for 10, then you can open a shell." Older kids can play "go fish", or memory (dive for 3 shells and throw all of them back if two of them don't match). The joints break after a year or two of use by kids, but I keep buying them because everyone loves them so much.

I love this! We have that rocket, and we've had it for years, it is a fun one. The shells would be a great addition to the splash pad too!
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to buy the shells for a while. I better get them if you recommend them! I bet the triplets would love them (if Benny ever lets them have a turn with them :)). Thanks for the suggestion!
ReplyDeleteLes... We did buy the shells for Lake Powell remember? I stole them and took them home after.. Haha Whoops! :)
ReplyDeleteI wondered where those went! I assumed they got lost in the lake Powell gear!
