7 girls and 1 boy.
We are now all married and we siblings span 16 years.
Our kids (the grandchildren) range from college age to newborn.
We all have different likes and dislikes.
A few things we all share in common - we're practical, we're moms, we love our families, and we love to have fun.
Bios:
Julie: (aka: Mom)
The matriarch of our family. She taught us all to love Costco, gardening, sunsets, the mundane tasks of motherhood, Mexican food (it's in our blood), family vacations, and girls camp among other things. She's given her entire life to being our mother. Once she was an airline stewardess (back when they were called that!) She's like the energizer bunny, the first one up to prepare for the day, and the last one to bed. She can out-shop any of us, even into her old age. (ha ha, just kidding mom.) She's a true mother who will do anything for her children - she once jumped into a scum filled pond to save our flock of ducks from a predator...while in her pajamas.
Wendy: (aka: Wend)
The eldest and wisest... Graduated college with double majors in electrical engineering and math. The one we turn to for the coolest science experiments, the answers to our kids homework, and for ways to keep our kids occupied using science, physics, and nature. Wendy is the mother to 5 and is never one to shy away from organizing large events for family and church. Enthusiastic and the only one able to whistle loud enough to get all of our attention. Her family loves to swim, camp, boy scout, invent, and win science fairs. Although she's always had long hair, she's careful to keep it in a braid whenever we go on our annual Lake Powell trip. As a young girl a bat got entangled in her unruly 5 year old pony tail.
Melissa: (aka: Meliss)
Nicknamed "Muscles Melissa" for a reason! She can outwork any of us, and you'll often see her lifting the share of a man. Always active and on the go, she's the one we turn to when we need a new "adventure". Melissa is mom to 2 boys and is a physical therapist. She enrolls her kids in all the coolest camps and programs because she loves to get them out exploring and trying new things. Also a bargain hunter, she lets us know the best groupon's to watch for. She's always been a "monkey", and so our mom put her in gymnastics and diving. As a child she made it a goal to be able to do a standing back-flip on her 30th birthday. She succeeded, but ended up in bed for a full day.
Always a lover of the garden, she studied horticulture and currently lives in the Eastern US on 17 acres where she and her family keep the neighborhood jealous with their prolific garden, fruit trees, and rolling pastures. We will look to her to feed us during the apocalypse. She knows more about the earth and natural ways of living than anyone else we know. Sara is the mother of 4 enthusiastic children. Her kids have a real knack for music and drama, always ready to entertain. Once she was accidentally left behind at a McDonald's while on a family trip, fortunately she doesn't suffer from abandonment, yet she does despise McD's.
Stacie: (aka: Stace)
The most driven and determined of the sisters. Stacie and her husband currently live in the UK. Not marrying until her early 30's, she has a different perspective than some of the rest of us. She's traveled the world and is bilingual. Stacie is the mother of 2 young children, and is very busy juggling life living abroad, working in the business world and being mom. Stacie and her family are active and love to get out and explore. While living abroad they've made a real effort to see and visit as much as possible while overseas. Although adventurous, she is terrified of dogs, and has been known to shove questionable food into her pantyhose - as not to offend her dinner hosts.
Emily: (aka: Emmer)
The 'go-to' sister, dabbling in a little bit of everything, thus rarely finishing anything! The lucky one to get the most inherited genetic flaws - asthma, crossed eyes, allergies, poor hip sockets, double jointed elbows, and syncope. Enjoys photography, DIY, blogging, piano, traveling, conversation, and spending time with family. The mother of 2 boys. Deals with life threatening food allergies. She and her husband keep busy with ongoing projects, so she's learned her way around the workshop. She's also the biggest worrier of the sisters, and keeps the adventures from getting out of hand. Loves horses but is deathly allergic. As a child, had to be medically exited from her dream outing of going out to eat at "Medieval Times" restaurant, on oxygen.
Allison: (aka: A-1)
The bravest of the bunch - she married our only brother! Allison has an MBA but no longer works full time, she is home with their young son. Allison grew up playing the sports we didn't - golf, tennis, and cycling. She loves to decorate, travel, and can't sit still for long - she's always on the go. While dating our brother, she joined us on our annual Lake Powell trip. Since they weren't married yet, they slept apart, putting a nephew between them. She awoke one morning with a strange texture and color in her hair. Upon further examination we discovered my nephew had vomited, on Allison, in her hair, in the middle of the night. Gross. And yet, she still married Stew and even attends family gatherings, even after that yucky welcome to the family!
Kim: (aka: Kimmo)
The lover of all games and always keeps the kids entertained. With a personality like that it's no wonder she was the coveted 4th grade teacher. She now juggles life as a mom to 3 under 3. Which includes 1 year old twins. She runs a home business, is the homemaker, the question asker, the conscientious one, and the dog owner. She's learned to become organized and is the yard sale queen. Always ready for fun, the nieces and nephews know to turn to Kimmo for a "dare". Kim is disappointed that as she's gotten older, roller coasters have lost their appeal. She is the master manipulator when it comes to coercing us into playing games. As a young girl, she was terrified of Guy Smiley (yes, the character on Sesame Street.)
Leslie: (aka: leslo)
The baby of our family... Leslie also lives out of the country, in Canada. Her claim to fame is having spontaneous identical triplets (yes, naturally). She also has an older son, making her the mother of 4 boys under 3. Her triplets all have cancer, so she has become the expert on traveling with multiples, childhood cancer, eye glasses (all 4 wear glasses), and enduring. Leslie is fun loving and even though she should be exhausted from all she deals with, she's always out and about and lives life to it's fullest. When she was young, she was quite the tomboy, which has come in handy in her adult life as she literally has no time to focus on frivolities like curling ones hair or painting nails!
